Hyrule Advent Calendar! December 2nd: Soup Ladle

This one’s just a bit silly, but what advent calendar has its best, most coveted item in the December 2nd slot? This is my greatest success in a series of images with increasingly more of Link’s head and increasingly less of what they’re supposed to be capturing. Do you know how hard it is to get the camera to register the item when it’s almost completely eclipsed by Link’s shaggy locks? I think the fact that’s it’s the back of Link’s head makes it even funnier. We can’t even see his face or properly identify him. We can’t even be certain that’s an actual person and not just a stump or some sand. (Spoiler alert: it’s Link.)

I really love the Compendium description for this one. ‘It packs quite a wallop.’ What it doesn’t mention is the poor durability. I like talking about that one time I killed a Molduga with a soup ladle, but in reality it was just the last few blows: the rest was done with the Master Sword because a soup ladle only does four hit points of damage and doesn’t last long enough to make up for it.

This image was taken at Wetland Stable in the far western reaches of Lanayru.

  1. soup ladle is really more for show than for functionality. unless of course you are making soup…

    1. Yes. Strangely enough, I don’t think Link uses them when he makes soup…
