The Hyrule Compendium Advent Calendar!
The advent calendar. A way to celebrate the countdown to the holidays with a series of little treats. It’s a classic thing. But do you know what this tradition is missing?
Link.
That’s it!
It’s missing a healthy dose of Link.
So what better way to spice up the ol’ advent calendar than pictures of Link?
On this blog for the month of December, I will post one item a day, captured straight from my personal Compendium, and share it for your enjoyment. Each one will be accompanied by a short anecdote as to where it was taken (if I remember, of course) for your holiday Hyrule fix. Capiche?
Shortly after I got the Camera from Robbie in Tears of the Kingdom, I decided it would be a fun challenge to have as many of the pictures in the Hyrule Compendium as possible feature Link. (The Hyrule Compendium, in case you aren’t familiar, is a log of every creature, monster, material, treasure and weapon in the game, assembled using the pictures the player takes.) It’s been a long and chaotic journey, with many bouts of screaming at the screen and many hearts of damage taken from temperature extremes, but in the end I have found myself with some decidedly excellent images of Link being serious, and as many of him goofing off. What better way of laying a trail of bread crumb treats up to the holidays than a gallery of Link’s finest adventuring highlights?
Even though Tears of the Kingdom is over six months old, I still feel it would be remiss if I didn’t put a blanket spoiler warning for the following posts. I’ve done everything but the final quest in the main storyline, so many of these pictures reflect that. I have a habit of making Ganon wait, especially when there’s so many other fun things that Hyrule has for me to do; but I’ve still managed to get to most of the main storyline through my procrastination. What reflects this most of all is the fact that my sensor is set on Silver Lynel in each and every picture with the intention of fighting them, not avoiding them like the plague.
So, beginning December 1st and running through to the 24th, I’ll be sharing some of my favourite Tears of the Kingdom moments. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
Keep your eye open on the 1st for the first post in the series, and get ready to have some fun with Link!
