My Little Pony Spotlight: Morning Glory

Happy (slightly belated) September! Today marks the start of what I hope will be a long-running tradition on this blog: the My Little Pony Spotlight! With this little featurette, I will showcase one (or more) of the adorable My Little Ponies in my collection, drop a few fun little tidbits about them, and showcase them in a pretty photo full of ridiculously cute eye candy.

Since one of September’s birthflowers is the Morning Glory, I decided this would be a great time to display my sweet, twice-as-fancy childhood Morning Glory, decked out in rainbows and with soft hair still wavy from the braid she had sported for so long. (Child me had a penchant for braiding a pony’s hair and leaving it in for…well, years in some cases.)

However, much to my surprise, I quickly discovered after a quick trip around my shelves full of a prismatic array of pretty ponies that she wasn’t the only one. I quickly discovered that there were in fact four ponies who shared the name of the flowering vine! So I decided there was nothing for it but to bring them all outside and snap a sweet picture next to my homegrown (and slightly crazy) morning glory vines.

This pastel beauty is one of only a few second generation ponies to have been released in North America. Being a Christmas gift from just last year, she’s one of the newer additions to my collection. Look at the way the light catches the rhinestones in her eyes! I love it when I’m lucky enough to find a g2 with her rhinestones intact.

Oh, look: a flutter pony! While she may not have wings anymore, she still has a delicate grace and beauty about her. I love the proportions of these dainty ponies, and this one comes with a beautiful fluorescent mane as well and a cute little flower bud on her cheek.

This pretty pony has a pretty impressive story to accompany her. She’s one of a twelve-set piece of birthflower ponies from the eighties that were only available by mail order. By some stroke of brilliant luck, I found her and all of her flowery sisters in mint condition at a thrift store a little over a year ago.  What are the odds? While her cutie mark and the flowers around her may not sport the same colour, they still look beautiful next to each other.

I hope these sweet little ponies brightened your day like they did mine!
