Hobey-ho!
Welcome to my little nerdy refuge from the world!
Where I live, this week everyone’s been going back to school. Newly freed from that yoke, I’ve decided it’s time for me to embark on a different kind of journey entirely—starting this blog. I’ve been writing for years, and this isn’t even the first time I’ve shared some of the things I’ve written, but my friends and family have heard quite enough ranting on so many topics that I’ve not shared with the wider world so I decided: why not try to share them?
The initial intention of this blog is to function as a depository for all sorts of my geeky musings. If you’re a fan of some of the same things I am—congratulations! Hopefully you’ll find some of the things written here of interest; maybe one will catch your eye and you’ll keep reading. My brain loves rolling out wave after wave of thoughts and ideas, and in the immortal words of Homer Simpson: venting prevents explosion. Maybe my ramblings will hold something worthwhile in them for you! I hope so.
Credentials, you may wonder? What makes me qualified to run this blog? While I can understand that touting your credentials is highly recommended to put a fancy shine on your blog, I can’t honestly say I have much in the way of credentials aside from a strong passion and obsession for the things that I plan on writing about and a pretty solid prose (hard-earned after years of writing aimlessly), in addition to knowing way more about The Legend of Zelda than any self-respecting ‘normal’ person ever would. And isn’t passion and a basic competence of writing all you need to start a blog?
While I fully anticipate that the topics covered here will vary greatly, some of the things that you, dear reader, can count on making regular appearances include:
~The Legend of Zelda
~The Lord of the Rings
~The Wheel of Time (keep in mind I’m still in the middle of the series, because it’s a colossal mass of book)
~My Little Pony (every generation except for whatever it is they’re doing now)
~Bleach (not the household product, the anime, obviously)
~The Witcher
~Warrior Cats
~Once Upon a Time
~The Pendragon Adventure
~Dungeons and Dragons
Of course, there are a bunch of other interests that I might sprinkle artfully like parsley leaves throughout my writing, but I won’t list every single one of them here. I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up. Plus, I’ve got enough fandoms to juggle that this introduction could quickly grow past concise and encroach on the territory of cluttered and rambling if I were to list all of them. The fandoms on the handy shortlist are going to likely be the ones I post about the most, anywhere from tidy analysis pieces to unkempt ramblings.
I also hope to regularly post mini book reviews from time to time as I crawl down my infinitely long reading list. I like to make a habit of reading and I’ve read a vast quantity of books over the years, but since some of my favourite places to frequent are used book stores, most of the books I review on this blog are going to be a bit on the older side. Or a lot on the older side in some cases.
While the majority of this blog’s content will be about fandom things, I might slide in a post or two about everyday things that don’t have anything explicitly to do with fandoms (but be assured I’ll find a way to work a fandom joke or two in anyways). Variety is the spice of life, and also writing! Sometimes. It depends on what the variety is.
All that being said, I hope you’ll find some golden nuggets in my writing! (Or silver nuggets at the very least).
It’s nice to have you here on my adventure, and happy reading!
